Biggie By The Beer Cafe

Biggie By The Beer Cafe – Koramangala, Bangalore

The Beer Cafe’s flagship outlet Biggie was launched of February 27th, in Koramangala. This is the chain’s 30th outlet in India and their second one in Bangalore. In due time, there will 8 outlets in Bangalore with the third one in Whitefield opening up in late March/early April.

Established in 2012, this chain of Beer cafes has its presence in cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, New Delhi, Gurgaon, Chandigarh & Amritsar. It is India’s largest, fastest growing and the most awarded Beer chain.

It’s their largest property in Bangalore spread over 2 floors – around 5,000 sq feet with plenty of cosy nooks and corners, an outdoor garden space and an upper balcony. The USP is simple – a neighborhood hangout for those who love their beer, food and great conversations. It also serves as a co-working space which is very handy for entrepreneurs looking for a place to work during the day and entertainment in the evening.

Pool Table

This is the new Biggies@Work concept. The Beer Cafe also runs a loyalty program via an Android/IOS application that lets you rack up Brew Miles that can be redeemed for food, beer and merchandise.

Launch Party

I got a chance do a short presentation about Beer and an intro Beer sampling along with the basics of food pairing at the event for a select set of bloggers and the media. Rahul Singh, the CEO of the Beer Cafe shared his vision and it was wonderful to finally meet him.

The idea behind the session was to give people an insight into what goes into making Beer and how to really appreciate your Beer. Beer can be sampled as eloquently as a Wine or a Whiskey and paired with food, as well.

After the session, the main launch party took place complete with live entertainment, plenty of food and drink options and of course great company!

Beer Selection

Their Beer selection is vast with around 30 beers set to be available – the best you can get considering Karnataka’s tough position on imported Beers. Unless the government changes its stance, we won’t see the selection the Beer Cafe normally has in cities such as Mumbai, Delhi & Gurgaon, with over 50-60 beers available and that too several imports on tap.  People who start pointing fingers first need to understand what the bottleneck is before condemning the selection available.

On tap, the usual offerings – KF and Fosters. When it comes to imports, you will find Beers such as Bira, Bira Morreti, Estrella Garcia, Fullers, Hoegaarden, Krombacher, Leffe, Murphy’s, Tsing Tao,  Viru and many more. The selection is mainly Lagers but there are a few Ales you can seek out.

Beer Mule
The Beer Mule

If Beer isn’t really your tipple, you can select from a wide range of wonderful Beer cocktails called Brewtails. My recommendation is the Beer Mule made with Cucumber, Vodka, Lime & Beer. This is absolutely refreshing for a hot sunny day!

For the non-Beer drinkers, a good selection of spirits and cocktails are available so it’s not just Beer you get at the Beer Cafe.

For appetizers – try the crispy calamari served with chipotle mayo, chicken olivetti and the prawns butter garlic.

It’s a new outlet that needs to time to settle – so please remember that and put yourselves in your servers shoes for a change!

There will be more events and activities planned in the weeks to come so be patient and in the meantime go get yourselves a Beer or better a few Beers over there while you wait!

Considering that Kormangala lacks proper Craft Beer (both brewpubs in the area serve lackluster Beers that are just dismal), the Beer Cafe is a great place to unwind, relax and have a few good Beers and enjoy quality Bites!

Cheers and Stay Frothy Folks!
