The Irish House Bangalore

The Irish are here! – The Irish House opens its doors in Bangalore

Since JJ was in Gurgaon co-hosting Beer Week India, the two other members of Team Froth  – Karan Nagpal & Manish MK, were able to attend the launch party of  The Irish House.

Located at VR mall, in Whitefield at Bangalore, The Irish House is not your typical F&B outlet that you expect to see in a shopping complex. As soon as you walk through the heavy set wooden doors at the entrance, you are transported to Dublin!

It has great interiors that set it apart in terms of authenticity, with great posters, clever quotes and a lot of wooden furniture. The warm wood and bright green add to the quirky charm, along with the full size enticer hanging from the ceiling! There are community tables along with a great outdoor seating to give a guest a plethora of options to seat him/herself and their respective groups. 160 covers across a well designed 3,300 sq. ft., makes for a spot that should be able to handle any amount of crowd that is inevitably going to flock to the doors of the establishment.

Launch Party

If the launch is a start and a way to judge how The Irish House is going to carry out their operations, then there is no doubt in my mind, that they will be successful and trending for a long time to come. We were warmly greeted at the door by the PR head, Manjuu Rangarajan and Mr. Salil Kulkarni, the operations manager. We immediately felt at home as we were taken around by the marketing team, comprising of two enterprising women, Shraddha and Kaveri! Very quickly and comfortably we were introduced to the extensive menu, which was served by a team of servers who, along with a fair knowledge of the food and drinks, also wore beaming smiles and spoke very well to all of us there.

We were first served sweet potato fries that were very evidently made in the kitchen and not store bought, with some amazing dips. This was followed by some flavourful chicken strips, a unique hummus platter which was extremely tasty, a fondue with 2 different sauces that simply blew our minds, a very well made vegetarian burger, crispy fish and chips and my personal favourite, the pulled pork cigars.

All the food was top notch, to the extent that the four of us managed to finish it all and keep eating regardless of how full we felt. The quality was great, it was fresh, and served perfectly. The sauces were stand out and the incorporation of beer was quite superb. It is a must, even, for a teetotaller just for the ambiance and food. I hope now that they continually match up to the lofty standards they have set.

The most innovative part of the night, of course, was the cocktails! Fresh ingredients carefully combined with some indigenous and imported liquor were served with the perfect garnishes and most importantly, explained beautifully by the staff! We were definitely Irish by the end of a few of the potent, delicious concoctions that the bar team served us with.

The favourites were the Inverted Bird (vodka, apple juice, flavours of passionfruit, with KF), the Weissen Sour (Hoegaarden with Jim Beam and some orange bitters) and the Whistleblower (Teachers, Laphroaig, raspberry and passionfruit flavours). But honestly, every cocktail was flawless! Some of the barman’s specials were good enough to invoke long conversations on liquor and hope that those would find their way on the menus soon!

We ended the perfect night in the perfect way, with a decadent, sinful slice of dual chocolate cake and “community drink” served in a bucket size fish bowl for a whimsical finish to a great event!

This ensured we all walked out feeling as Irish as possible!
